Storefront Grants

In an effort to enhance existing downtown spaces, Downtown Partners has created the Downtown Sioux City Storefront Grants program. Eligible projects must be located within the boundaries of the Downtown Partners SSMID and funds are strictly for use towards storefront improvements and/or start-up business space needs.

The goal is to provide an incentive to help attract new and retain existing downtown commercial office/retail tenants while enhancing the overall value and appeal of the downtown business district. The program offers a matching grant to owners or tenants (with the owner’s permission) of commercial property in Downtown Sioux City.

The grant aids in the form of matching funds that are paid to selected applicants upon completion of an approved impact project. Grant funding is available equaling up to 50% of owner or tenant investment, capped at $4,000 per storefront.

Rent Relief Application

The Rent Relief program offers financial support to new business owners in Downtown Sioux City. In an effort to fill vacant downtown storefronts, Downtown Partners has created a Downtown Sioux City Business Recruitment effort in the form of a rent relief program. Eligible spaces must be located within the boundaries of the Downtown Partners SSMID and funds are strictly for use towards a graduated rent relief schedule.

Downtown Partners will work with the property owner to provide a 50% reduction in rent for up to six months of a minimum 36-month lease agreement. This recruitment program has funds available to reduce rent for new downtown businesses. Downtown Partners will pay 25%, with a maximum amount of $3,600, for the reduction in rent if it is matched by the property owner at 25%. This will reduce rent by 50% for the new business.
