Downtown Partners welcomes you to kick off the holiday season with an evening full of activities for the entire family! Downtown for the Holidays is scheduled for Monday, November 19th in downtown Sioux City. Events will include the 2018 Holiday Lighted Parade by IBEW, the opening of Santa’s House and the Festival of Trees. The LaunchPAD Children’s Museum is offering free admission with the donation of hand warmers, socks or travel-size toiletries for The Warming Shelter from 3:00 p.m. – 5:30 p.m. and just down the street, Evolve Yoga & Wellness Center is offering free hot chocolate to help everyone warm up before the parade.

The International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers (IBEW), Local 231 is proud to present the 2018 Holiday Lighted Parade that begins at 6:15 p.m. on 4th and Iowa Streets and jingles its way down 4th Street. Businesses, organizations and service groups in the Siouxland community are encouraged to participate in the parade. There is no cost to enter and your float may win a cash prize for the best in its class. Registrations are due by November 14. There will be classes for commercial and non commercial; 1st – $150.00, 2nd – $100.00 and 3rd – $50.00 will be awarded in each class.

Storefronts & Start-Ups Grant Application

Storefronts & Start-Ups Grant Application

In an effort to enhance existing downtown spaces, Downtown Partners has created a Downtown Sioux City Storefronts & Start-Ups Grant program. Eligible projects must be located within the boundaries of the Downtown Partners SSMID and funds are strictly for use towards storefront improvements and/or start-up business space needs.

The grant aids in the form of a matching funds that are paid to selected applications upon completion of an approved impact project. Grant funding is available equaling up to 50% of owner or tenant investment, capping at $2,500 per store.

Downtown Partners invites you to the 200 Block of 4th Street between Water Street and Pearl Street for a Yard Game Olympics style Block Party, Saturday, August 25th starting at 1 p.m. Music, Yard Games, Artwork and more, this event is free to the public! Register your team of 2 or more (limit of 5) to compete in all Bar Olympic games. For those less competitive, there will be a separate area with games and activities for you as well. I.D. tents will be in multiple locations for those 21 and up.

Kalynn Sortino, Business and Entrepreneur Support Coordinator at Downtown Partners states, “Sioux City has been known for live music, and events with live music. So, for one day, we wanted to steer away from performers and let the community come together, just like they would for a neighborhood block party, but in the streets of downtown Sioux City! Let’s fill downtown with laughter, and a little friendly competition.”

Teams can register HERE to compete in the Bar Olympic Games which include; cornhole (bags), life-size trash pong, ladder golf, knock-out and more! There will be art aspects, show cars, and lots of food and drinks. The Block Party will be located in between 4th and 5th street on Water and Pearl.

Downtown Partners Introduces Monthly “Stop & Sip” Series

Downtown Partners is introducing the first Stop & Sip event in Downtown Sioux City on Tuesday, July 17th. The community is invited to Stop at five participating local businesses to Sip on some beer and wine samples while chatting with the owners. The Stop & Sip event is a networking opportunity to show the community how many businesses are in downtown, newcomers and veterans alike, as well as the walkability of our downtown.

Kalynn Sortino, Business and Entrepreneur Support Coordinator for Downtown Partners explains, “The goal is to create a relaxed environment for business owners to tell their story on how they got to where they are today, and for the community to learn about a business or two they might not have already known was around.”

Stop & Sip will kick off this Tuesday, July 17th from 5-7p.m. at Tint Masters, Windows America, Top Line Transmissions, El Guero, and 615 Pearl Street, an available space downtown next to LaunchPad. The 3rd Tuesday of every month, five new, local businesses will be mapped out for you to interact with in a new and exciting way. This event is free and open to the public.

1st Annual Art Affair

Downtown Partners is launching a series of Block Parties in Downtown Sioux City to promote local businesses in a new and exciting way. The 1st Annual Art Affair will kick things off on Saturday, August 18th in front of the Benson Building on 7th Street. From 10 A.M. to 3 P.M., local artists will line the street to display and sell their artwork in a festival-like atmosphere. This event is FREE to attend, where you can browse and purchase local art, have lunch with food vendors and listen to strolling musicians. There will also be face painters and art contests for you and your family to participate in.

Kalynn Sortino, Business and Entrepreneur Support Coordinator for Downtown Partners explains, “Our goal is to find different ways to showcase local talent in Downtown! There is so much our community has to offer and to have an event as simple and unique as this was essential. The artists love showing their work and interacting with the community, and the community love to have events outside that utilize the blocks in a unique way.”

Artists wanting to participate in this event must register and fill out a short form detailing what type of artwork they would like to sell. Registration is now open to the public on Downtown Partners website and facebook page. Registration will close, Friday, July 23rd.

Downtown Sioux City Small Business Series for May

Downtown Partners invites the community to participate in the Downtown Small Business Saturday Series for the month of May. Due to the success of the Small Business Saturday Bingo game last November, businesses are once again thrilled to be a part of a new series that invites you into their business for another fun event.

The Scavenger Hunt will test your knowledge to see if you can recognize different downtown locations based off a photo. The hunt begins Saturday, May 5th and you will have one week to locate all 12 downtown locations based off one photo that can be recognized from the outside and one clue relating to their name. Recognize all 12 locations, fill in the name of the business and collect a signature from an employee inside before returning your game board back to Downtown Partners, 418 Pierce Street, by Sunday, May 13th to enter in a drawing for Downtown Cash! Gameboards can be picked up at Downtown Partners, 418 Pierce Street, the Sioux City Public Museum, 607 4th Street, or the Sioux City Art Center, 225 Nebraska Street. In addition to the Scavenger Hunt, businesses will be expanding their storefronts out onto the sidewalks for an outdoor shopping experience starting on May 5th.
