Downtown Partners is calling on the community and downtown stakeholders to help keep downtown moving forward!
Letter from our Director:
As we begin planning for 2027, we are taking a fresh look at how we engage downtown’s community partners.
Our workgroups were originally created to bring people together around broad areas of work, but as our staff structure and projects have evolved, we see that not every group needs a standing meeting each month. We want to make better use of your time. I’d rather send you updates than hold a meeting simply because it’s on the calendar.
We will cancel the September 2026 meetings and use that month to reset the structure into a more project-based approach starting this fall. Think of meetings similar to our lighting projects or outdoor music: those groups came together to complete a project and then disbanded. However, I would like to maintain a version of the Vision workgroup as a place to discuss larger downtown issues and strategies before they move forward.
Some of you love rolling up your sleeves on a project, some enjoy brainstorming and problem-solving, and others simply want to stay connected to what’s happening downtown. There should be room for all three because your input truly matters!!

WORK GROUPS
Community
Goal: Unify and strengthen the influence of downtown’s various stakeholder groups, including property and business owners, employees and residents. Initiative example: To organize the downtown residential population by engaging residents in efforts to attract new amenities and services that enhance downtown’s appeal for living. Meets on the third Wednesday of each month at 1:00 pm at Downtown Partners (1119 4th St. Suite 104)
Vision
Goal: Attract new investment to downtown, including new businesses, jobs and housing. Initiative example: To establish business support services that compiles market & property data and provides policy leadership representing the downtown business community. Meeting times vary, please email info@downtownsiouxcity.com for the most up-to-date meeting information.
Environment
Goal: Make place-making improvements to public spaces, roadways and streetscapes to make downtown more walkable, bikeable and livable. Initiative example: To improve the pedestrian and bicycle experience to support housing and business development by advocating for “complete street” concepts on key corridors that connect different parts of downtown. Meets on the third Tuesday of each month at 12:00 p.m. at Downtown Partners (1119 4th St Suite 104.)
