New Age spirituality is everywhere these days with the rise of social media. Altars have become a “fad” in spiritual spaces without a lot of understanding or personal connection. Developing a relationship with our sacred practices allows for a more intimate experience with the process as a whole.
Jackie is an existential therapist and has been studying and working with symbols most of her life and especially in her work as a healer and teacher. She has always been passionate about spiritual studies and connecting the mundane with the profound.
Ethically, as spiritual practitioners and living in a White Male Dominated Culture, it is important that we examine our use of these practices and the way we appropriate the sacred practices of indigenous people. Being a white woman, Jackie is continuously exploring the “why” behind her spiritual practices and working with her own ancestory and lineages to develop and cultivate a more authentic experience with those practices that create a more erotic, alive and meaningful process.
Join Jackie for this two hour workshop where we will not just connect with the process of building an altar as something “cool” or “witchy” but because there is a very real spiritual and psychological power to these practices. Students will learn a little bit more about the history of altar building, have an opportunity to explore their own ancestral lineage and there connection with the altar and have an opportunity to be in inquiry as each person builds their own personal altar that day – taking home a more embodied process for their own spiritual experience.
