Vangarde Arts, in collaboration with Downtown Partners, is excited to announce the return of the Alley Art Festival in Sioux City on Saturday, September 26th, from 1 p.m. – 11 p.m. This street art festival provides local artists with a platform to show their skills, by creating murals in the alleyways between 4th, 5th, Pierce, and Nebraska Streets once again. This year will expand to include the area of 4th Street between Pierce and Nebraska Streets to browse and purchase art from local vendors.
The Alley Art Festival was created to reinvent urban spaces with art and is part of an ongoing effort to enhance walkability between the Historic 4th and the Historic Pearl districts. Adding local vendor artists only adds to the community event.
Brent Stockton, local promoter for Vangarde Arts states, “We are excited to host the second annual Alley Art Festival! We had an overwhelming response last year, so we would like to be able to host this event again if we can. We have added a competition element to the mural painting which gives artists a chance to earn cash prizes and have expanded the space to help showcase local art and give visitors more space. Vangarde Arts will be raising funds for the event and to continue its mission to expose the community to the arts!”
The public is invited to come stroll through the alleys, watch as artist create multiple murals on the walls and shop local vendors. Food vendors and beverages will be available for purchase and live music will fill the alleys throughout the day. Admission is only $5 at the gate.
The planning committee will be keeping a very close eye on the COVID-19 pandemic and taking precautions to ensure that hosting this event is in the best interest of our community. If for any reason this event needs to be cancelled, you will be notified.
