Be You! Music & Arts Festival

The brand new 2025 Be You! Music & Arts Festival will transform 4th & Virginia into a celebration of individuality, freedom, and resilience!

The festival will feature special educational forums, addressing topics such as environmentalism, legislation, human rights, and more; also expect motivational talks with various leaders throughout the event. We ensure a welcoming environment and fun activities for all ages.

A diverse lineup of local and regional musicians will provide live music throughout the evening. Local artists will line the street showcasing and selling their work along with a variety of food and beverage vendors. Noah’s Hope and their four-legged friends will also be part of the fun, and will be joining us for the Diversity Walk across downtown Sioux City.

Raffles from the Be You! Music and Arts Festival will benefit The Braveheart Music Fund, which offers students in the greater Siouxland area the opportunity to go to Midbell Music and receive 4 introductory lessons on an instrument of their choice.  Inspired by the life and memory of Cole McClure this allows students to explore their creative and musical potential.

The Be You! Music and Arts Festival will begin at 5 p.m. and will last until midnight on Friday, June 6 at Virginia Street between 3rd and 4th Streets. We will have a clear bag policy and asking for $10 at the door.

Holiday Parade Adds Sensory and Accessible Viewing Areas

The International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers (IBEW) Local 231, Downtown Partners, The Oak View Group, and Siouxland District Health are excited to announce the addition of Sensory Friendly Spaces and an Accessible Viewing Area at the 2024 IBEW Holiday Lighted Parade. This year’s parade will be held on November 25th at 6:15 p.m. along 4th Street in downtown Sioux City.

A quiet zone will be identified inside the lobby and a designated sensory friendly space will be located in room 3 at the Sioux City Convention Center at 801 4th Street. Both spaces are designed to provide a safe and enjoyable experience for individuals with sensory sensitivities. These areas will offer a quieter environment with reduced noise and visual stimulation, allowing attendees to enjoy the parade in a comfortable setting.

“We are proud at Oak View Group and the Sioux City Convention Center to support the IBEW Holiday Lighted Parade by providing inclusive spaces for all members of our community to come and enjoy this holiday tradition.” said Oak View Group Representative, Chad Schmidt.

The Accessible Viewing Area, also located outside at the Sioux City Convention Center at the circle drive on 4th Street, will provide a designated space for individuals with disabilities to enjoy the parade with clear sightlines and ample space for wheelchairs and other mobility devices.

“We are committed to making the IBEW Holiday Lighted Parade an inclusive event for everyone in our community,” said Downtown Partners. “The addition of the Sensory Friendly Spaces and Accessible Viewing Area ensures that individuals with disabilities can fully participate in this beloved holiday tradition.”

The Sensory Friendly Spaces and Accessible Viewing Area are free and open to the public. Accessible parking is available in the lot across from the Sioux City Convention Center.

Shop Small!

Shopping Small is a BIG deal!

As we go into a holi-daze, many of us are busy making shopping lists, checking them twice, and getting caught up in the hustle and bustle of the holiday season. Before those packages start arriving, we want to remind you how much it matters to support your local small businesses this season.

Shopping local is all about choosing to spend your money at the cozy, independently-owned shops and restaurants that make our community unique. Shopping small means you can find one-of-a-kind gifts for your loved ones, enjoy personalized services, and even reduce your environmental footprint. Plus, you’re directly contributing to the growth of Sioux City’s economy. Fun Fact: According to American Express, shopping at small businesses can have a greater economic impact on the local community than shopping at big box stores because $0.68 of every dollar spent at a small business in the U.S. stays in the local community.

Downtown Sioux City is filled with hidden gems just waiting to become your new favorite places to shop. From unique, locally-made products to exceptional customer service, downtown retailers offer something special you won’t find anywhere else. Through the Destination Downtown campaign, we will be highlighting many of them throughout the month of November, so keep an eye on our social media to discover more about the amazing businesses that make shopping downtown so much fun.

Did someone say prizes?

We did! Show us how you are Shopping Small in Downtown Sioux City on Saturday, November 30.  One person will win a gift basket full of items from Downtown Businesses ($500 value).

Here’s how to enter:

  1. Post a photo of your Downtown Sioux City Small Business Saturday experience on Facebook or Instagram
  2. Tag Downtown Partner – Sioux City
  3. Tag the business you visited! (Insider tip – enter multiple times by visiting more than one business!)

Alternatively, email your photos to info@downtownsiouxcity.com

Your post or photos must be submitted on Small Business Saturday, November 30 by 11:59pm!

Call for Parade Photographers!

Downtown Partners is seeking talented photographers to capture the magic of the 2024 IBEW Holiday Lighted Parade and festivities downtown on November 25, 2024, beginning at 6:15 pm.

If you have experience photographing outdoor festivities, nighttime shots, and similar events, we encourage you to submit your portfolio for consideration. The selected photographer will be expected to capture photos of each entry, parade attendees, and scenery along the route, and will be responsible for transporting themselves and equipment to and from the parade.
