Downtown for the Holidays 2016 Parade!

Downtown Sioux City welcomes you to kick off the holiday season with an evening full of activities for the entire family! “Downtown for the Holidays” is scheduled for Monday, November 21st.

The LaunchPAD Children’s Museum (623 Pearl Street) will be offering FREE admission from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. with the donation of a canned good or a new toy. Proceeds will benefit the Food Bank of Siouxland and the Men of Color Toy Drive. The Sioux City Public Museum (607 4th Street) is also FREE to visit and will be open from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m.

As you walk down Pearl Street on your way to the parade on 4th Street, Evolve Yoga & Wellness (411 Pearl Street) invites the public to stop in for FREE hot chocolate.

At 6:15 p.m. the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers, Local 231 presents the 2016 Holiday Lighted Parade that will start at 4th and Iowa Streets and jingle its way down 4th Street to Nebraska Street. Once Santa arrives outside the Sioux City Public Museum, he will help us light the tree before heading over to Santa’s House (416 Jackson Street) where children can present him with their wish list and warm up with some hot chocolate and cookies. Santa’s House will be open Tuesday and Thursday evenings from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m., Saturdays from 10:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. and Sundays from 12:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. from November 26th through December 22nd.

Festival of Trees will be starting their season as well in the Ho-Chunk Centre atrium (600 4th Street) with the bell choir and dance performances. Trees are on display through November 30th with the anticipated tree auction taking place on December 1st with proceeds benefiting the Siouxland Center for Active Generations.

Buildings and storefronts in downtown are invited to Decorate Downtown by lighting up their buildings and decorating their storefronts. Contests for the best lighting and decoration will be announced for each category on December 5th. If you have a favorite, please contact Downtown Partners at (712) 252-0014 www.downtownsiouxcity.com before December 4th.

A special thank you to our presenting sponsor, The International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers, Local 231 for helping make the parade possible and to Thompson Electric and the Sioux City Public Museum for their involvement with the holiday tree.
