Downtown Partners Welcomes New Business Development Coordinator

Downtown Partners in Sioux City, Iowa is proud to welcome Carly Howrey as the new Business Development Coordinator. Howrey is a college senior currently finishing her Bachelor of Science degree in Business Administration at Morningside University. Carly calls Hospers, Iowa home but has enjoyed living in Sioux City for the last three years. In her new role, she will be responsible for all duties relating to the development and execution of the Downtown Partners business support program.

While attending Morningside University, Carly has been introduced to many opportunities such as: being a sports marketing intern for the university, becoming an event coordination intern at the Dakota Dunes Country Club, and managing the Morningside Cheerleading Instagram account in hopes to recruit more incoming athletes. She has also participated in sideline and competition cheerleading throughout her time at Morningside. All of this has prepared Carly to begin working for Downtown Sioux City Partners through a revamped externship program at Morningside until she graduates in May. “I am very excited to have this opportunity before graduation so I can grow my network before I leave Morningside. I know downtown Sioux City has a lot of potential and I’m excited to learn, grow, and build a foundation with the organization and help businesses be successful.”

The goal of the Business Development Coordinator is to assist in attracting and retaining businesses in downtown Sioux City. Howrey will be the front-line contact for businesses to help create growth and ensure a strong business climate. Downtown Partners executive director, Ragen Cote states, “Carly is a great fit for this position. Her background, skills, and passion for what we do and for our community really shined during the interview process. We believe Carly’s point of view will help keep things moving forward downtown.”
