SIOUX CITY | The results of a survey to be unveiled Thursday will show a Sioux City community that wants a more active and vibrant downtown.
Downtown Partners will share the report of a Denver-base consultant during a 1 p.m. public meeting in the council chambers at City Hall, 405 Sixth St.
Initial findings by Brad Segal, with Progressive Urban Management Associates, show the top three important factors in an April online poll for improving downtown were new restaurants, retail, jobs, festivals and outdoor events.
The April survey asked participants to rate the importance of downtown housing, restaurants, retail and local events. The results will help Downtown Partners provide a three- to five-year action plan.
Poll participants described a downtown 10 years from now as “vibrant, fun, clean, entertainment and destination.”
People also wanted the city to take steps toward a more appealing riverfront, adding green space and providing more support to local startups.
Other people requested more nightlife activities, restaurants, clubs and niche entertainment venues in downtown Sioux City.
