Downtown Partners welcomes you to kick off the holiday season with an evening full of activities for the entire family! Downtown for the Holidays is scheduled for Monday, November 19th in downtown Sioux City. Events will include the 2018 Holiday Lighted Parade by IBEW, the opening of Santa’s House and the Festival of Trees. The LaunchPAD Children’s Museum is offering free admission with the donation of hand warmers, socks or travel-size toiletries for The Warming Shelter from 3:00 p.m. – 5:30 p.m. and just down the street, Evolve Yoga & Wellness Center is offering free hot chocolate to help everyone warm up before the parade.
The International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers (IBEW), Local 231 is proud to present the 2018 Holiday Lighted Parade that begins at 6:15 p.m. on 4th and Iowa Streets and jingles its way down 4th Street. Businesses, organizations and service groups in the Siouxland community are encouraged to participate in the parade. There is no cost to enter and your float may win a cash prize for the best in its class. Registrations are due by November 14. There will be classes for commercial and non commercial; 1st – $150.00, 2nd – $100.00 and 3rd – $50.00 will be awarded in each class. REGISTER HERE TO ENTER THE PARADE
The LaunchPAD Children’s Museum (623 Pearl Street) will be offering FREE admission from 3:00 p.m. to 5:30 p.m. with the donation of hand warmers, socks or travel-size toiletries for The Warming Shelter. As you walk down Pearl Street on your way to the parade on 4th Street, Evolve Yoga & Wellness Center (411 Pearl Street) invites the public to stop in for FREE hot chocolate.
The Sioux City Public Museum (607 4th Street) is also FREE to visit and will be open from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Once Santa arrives outside the Sioux City Public Museum, he will help us light the tree and decorations before heading over to Santa’s House (409 Nebraska Street) where children can present him with their wish list and warm up with some hot chocolate and cookies. Santa’s House will be open Tuesday and Thursday evenings from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m., Saturdays from 10:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. and Sundays from 12:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. from November 24th through December 20th.
Festival of Trees will be starting their season in the Ho-Chunk Centre atrium (600 4th Street) with the bell choir and dance performances. Trees are on display through November 29th with the anticipated tree auction taking place that evening at 6:30 p.m. Proceeds from this year’s auction will go to Mary J. Treglia Community Center.
