Current and Upcoming Construction Projects

Plan ahead for downtown construction and street closures – dates coming soon.

  • 8th Street (Douglas St. – Jackson St.) Reconstruction. 8th Street is closed from Douglas to Jackson St. during reconstruction.
  • Nebraska Street (5th St. – 8th St.) Watermain Replacement. Nebraska Street is reduced to one northbound lane during construction. Parking spaces on the east side of Nebraska will be unavailable during construction, but sidewalk access will remain open. Signage has been added to make the business access more clear to customers.
  • Pearl Street Railroad Crossing Improvements – anticipated to be completed by Fall 2026.
  • 6th Street Bridge Re-Decking – anticipated to be completed by November 2026. On the evening of August 4 until sometime on August 5, Hoeven Drive will be closed from 4th Street to 9th Street (weather-dependent).

Street Closures Due to Events

Check back here often to stay up-to-date on street closures due to events:

  • August 7, 14, 21, 28 – Food Truck Friday. 4th Street will be closed from Jones Street to Jackson Street. Jones Street will be closed north of 4th Street to the alley. Street closures will begin at 8am and end by 2pm.
  • August 7 – Downtown Live. Virginia Street will be closed from 3rd Street to 4th Street. Street closures will begin at 8am and end the following morning.
  • August 8 – Lil Jon (concert), Battery Park. Fourth Street will be closed from Pearl Street to Water Street, and Water Street will be closed from 4th Street to 5th Street.
  • August 14 – Sioux City Convention Center private event. While there is no street closure, you should expect some impacts to area parking.
  • August 28-30 – Sioux City Geek Convention at the Sioux City Convention Center. No street closures anticipated, but we expect a large number of attendees and impacts to downtown parking availability.
  • September 4 – Downtown Live. Virginia Street will be closed from 3rd Street to 4th Street. Street closures will begin at 8am and end the following morning.
  • September 5 – Alley Art Festival. 5th Street will be closed from Pierce Street to Nebraska Street.
  • September 11-13 – Fall Home Show at the Sioux City Convention Center. No street closures anticipated, but we expect a large number of attendees and impacts to downtown parking availability.
  • September 19-20 – Art Splash, Sioux City Art Center. Street closure information coming soon.
  • September 26 – Downtown Tailgate. 4th Street will be closed from Jones Street to Jackson Street.
  • September 26 – Martoberfest, Marto Brewing Company. Street closure information coming soon.
  • September 26 – Oktoberfest, Jackson Street Brewing. Street closure information coming soon.
  • October 3 – Hops & Harvest. Street closure information coming soon.

During winter months, parking downtown during snow emergencies can be confusing. Parking along Emergency Snow Routes is not allowed when a snow emergency is declared – please inform customers to park in parking ramps (where the first hour is always free). Find more info here.
